Rant - Nail Salons

This rant is for the ladies! I went to a nail salon in Pennsylvania yesterday. I usually go about once a month, and end up getting the same little Korean dude who always does a pretty decent job with my nails. But yesterday I got someone different and let me tell you I was worried.

See, if you are a woman who faithfully gets your nails done then you understand the importance of finding someone who does your nails just right. Because once they start its difficult to get them fixed, especially when the acrylic bowl and liquid comes out.

On with my story. I always bring my own nail tips, for numerous reasons.

1. I get to pick what kind of tips I want to use (i prefer duck feet nail tips)

2. I pick out the ones that I know are going to fit my nails

3. I buy nail tips that are pre-designed to save some money

So anyway, unfortunately I forgot my nail tips yesterday because I was running late meeting my mother for breakfast. So I said screw it. BIG MISTAKE! I started out with a pedicure, which may I say, is OVERPRICED! 25 dollars to get my tootsies painted! WTF! I learned my lesson with that right there. But after my pedicure I headed over to the station to get my full set acrylics. The worker asked me how I wanted my nails done and I explained I wanted the sparkily blue that were on my toes, on my nail tips (like a french manicure without the white). He proceeded to glue the nails tips on my nails when after the third one I noticed that they just barely fit my nails!

Here's something you need to understand, I have fat fingers. If you put little nails on my fingers then they are going to look absolutely aweful! And mine do! But that's not even the part that really got me heated. When I opened my mouth to comment on how skinny the nails were, the worker told me that's how they fit and continued to argue with me about it as he put the tiny tips on the rest of my fingers! So I waited until he was about to put the acrylic on and I asked if he could sculpt them to be a little wider and he said "wider??". The effin ahole pretended he didn't know what I was talking about and just kept working!

So I ended up paying for an overpriced pedicure, and for nails that look sooo stupid! Ladies, they are YOUR fingers. STAND UP and tell them damn Koreans that you want YOUR nails done RIGHT!

This is my last piece of advice, learn how to do acrylics yourself! If you have a Sallys Salon near you then you can buy everything you need! They even sell instructional dvds! Im telling you, its worth it! May take a few times to get the hang of it but you will be saving so much money and you will never walk away from a salon wondering why you just wasted your money for nails that look half assed!

Sorry dudes, I had to get this out. For me, its like a 1 in 3 chance that I actually get my moneys worth when it comes to nail salons.
