Cell Phone Names

Why can't the cell phone providers keep the phone manufacturer's name for the phones?? We have the Verizon Touch Pro. Then we have the AT&T Fuze. Same phone! Sprint does have the HTC Touch Pro and calls it the Touch Pro so at least Verizon and Sprint are the same name. It is confusing to us consumers as it is to go find a new phone and now we have to learn all these damn names when we are researching our next treasure of a cell phone.

While I am on the subject..Why can't Apple name their iphone versions in order?? We got the Iphone(the original). Then we have the Iphone 3G followed by the new one Iphone 3GS. If this one is so special that I should go run out and pay $400 dollars for an overpriced product, why isn't it named 4G for fourth genration?? Well its not for a 4G network. That's ok it is still the fourth generation of the phone supposedly or is it the third generation? I don't know, I lost track. Plain and simple come up with better names.
