Why Verizon Getting The Iphone Is Good For An AT&T Customer
The evidence is all starting to point that Verizon is getting the Iphone and is making the announcement tomorrow January 11th,2011. The wait is finally over and Apple will unleash the Iphone on the Big Red which is rumored to be the week of February 3rd. What will the new phone have?? Will it be with updated specs?? Will it have a better front facing camera?? Will it be the same as AT&T’s Iphone?? I would go with that one most likely.
So why is the Iphone good for an AT&T customer and what would make me think such a thing?? First off competition is great for consumers. It makes the two biggest cell phone companies battle it out on pricing, data packages and all aspects of the game.
In Verizon’s inventory there is not a single phone that is over $200. The Iphone at AT&T for the 32 GB version is $300. I think realistically Verizon will undercut AT&T and eat more of the cost and sell the 32GB version at $250. Will AT&T drop the price more to match their price??? I think they will have to keep people from jumping ship and enticing people to stay.
Another reason is Verizon currently has unlimited data plans for $29.99 and they plan to keep it that way. AT&T does not have an unlimited plan they have a 2GB cap for $25. I predict AT&T changing their ways and making an unlimited plan available for their customers pretty quick to keep up with Verizon.
Verizon’s Iphone will most likely have Facetime and other streaming apps working over their 3G network. I predict AT&T will have to follow suit and allow those to work over 3G.
All of these things are great for the consumers of AT&T. Will many people jump ship and go to Verizon for the supposedly more reliable network?? Time will tell. I for one have been an AT&T customer for 8 years and don’t plan on switching. They have the fastest network around. I have seen charts and tests done by outside companies and AT&T has the fastest 3G around. Will the average consumer care about 3G speed. No probably not but techie geeks like me do! So that’s my ideas and predictions on that topic. Please leave your comments below!!

I heard another AT&T Iphone user say he's happy about it because a bunch of people will leave for Verizon, which will free up a lot of bandwidth for the Iphone users who stay with AT&T. This will make the AT&T service less bogged down and more speedy, while making the Verizon service more bogged down and less speedy. We'll know in a couple of months.
ReplyDeleteAT&T's network is now the fastest network around. It is no longer bogged down and they fixed the areas that had alot of dropped calls. I don't think many people will flee to go to a slower network like Verizon's. So I was wrong about the price thing oh well! Maybe AT&T will drop the price anyways to compete better :)
