Music Review: Charice-Charice 2010

I know this album isn’t exactly new but it is definitely worth a look at.  Now for a little background on Charice.  She is a Fillipina singer and is only 18 years old.  Her full name is Charice Pempengco and she got real popular from Youtube.  She is being backed by Oprah who dubs her as the “Most Talented Girl In The World.” She was on Glee for a bit as Sunshine and did an awesome DreamGirl cover!  She is also the first solo Asian artist in history to land in the Top 10 of the Billboard 200 album chart.
Now with all that said this is her debut full album.  She launched it on Oprah’s Worlds Most Talented Kid’s Episode.  She has a few smaller albums before this but this is her major release.  The first single is Pyramid featuring Iyaz and we all know how is song is stuck on replay on our ipods.  To hear this song click the link below.
Charice Pyramid
This is a great powerful debut single of her album.  This girl can sing anything.  She has the potential to be the next Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey.  Her voice is definitely good enough to stand with that group.  She is big in other countries right now but if she keeps up her hard work I know she can make it big in the US.
It is hard to pick a favorite song off this cd because they are all good songs.  Pyramid is definitely one of my favorites.  Note To God is another good one.  She is also being backed by David Foster who is famous for discovering Josh Groban, Michael Buble and Celine Dion.
Ok enough about her already.  I rate this album 4 out of 5 stars.  I would have given this cd a 5 if she featured some more people in it.  I wanted to hear some more duets maybe a rap verse by Akon or something.  This is defnitely an awesome debut album and remember if she makes it big you read it here first Smile with tongue out Thanks to my friend addsub for telling me about him. Also she is working on her second full album so hopefully we see that come out in 2011.

NOTE: Watch the whole thing, but watch at around 3:45 when she's done singing with others and takes over.

Does this make her the best singer ever? Well, no. She has the voice, but as anyone involved in music will tell you, performing a cover of something someone else has already created is much easier than doing the creating yourself. The jury is still out as to whether she'll be able to create memorable songs out of nothing.

Just keep in mind these recordings were done before she was 18 -- most of them significantly before (such as 16). So yeah, she has an incredible voice, and I hope the reality matches the potential.
